Being a National Vital Object, Semen Gresik Requires Visitors to Take Rapid Test
Rembang, August, 2020 – Visitors who want to do their activities in PT Semen Gresik area are required to show a certificate of rapid test results from the hospital or other authorized institution. The health protocol, which is part of the policy on new normal is applied to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in the area of PT Semen Gresik, which is one of the national vital objects.
Dharma Sunyata, the Head of the Communication and Community Development Unit of PT Semen Gresik, states that the production activities of Semen Gresik constitute one of the foundations of national development. Furthermore, this is in line with the infrastructure development policy that the government has intensified in recent years.
Therefore, Semen Gresik implements various policies to ensure the sustainability of the company's operations. One of them is by requiring all guests who will carry out some activities in the company area to take a rapid test to detect Covid-19.
According to Dharma Sunyata, this policy applies to all guests without exception. For instance, it applied to the representatives of Indonesian Army Headquarters led by Colonel (Inf) Gunawan Wijaya who visited PT Semen Gresik to discuss a cooperation agreement between these two institutions. The officers of the Indonesian Red Cross in Rembang were also required to take a rapid test before conducting the blood drive activity held at Batu Kapur Building of PT Semen Gresik.
The company has also refused some guests who could not show their rapid test certificate to enter the area of Semen Gresik for several times. The policy is not applied to guests only, but also to the employees from partner companies and representatives of state-owned banks from several districts in the eastern region of Central Java.
"Semen Gresik is a national vital object whose production results concern the lives of many people, so we strictly adhere to the Covid-19 health protocol. This policy is in accordance with the direction of the parent company, Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) and the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises regarding the efforts to prevent Covid-19 which has been determined by the government as a non-natural national disaster," said Dharma Sunyata on Friday (7/8/2020).
Since March, PT Semen Gresik has implemented a Covid-19 prevention protocol in all operational areas and in various company activities. The New Normal policy, which prioritizes the employees’ productivity while keeping everyone safe from Covid-19, becomes a new habit for the employees of this leading cement company.
Also, through these efforts, PT Semen Gresik has been confirmed as the first company in Central Java Province to be awarded the "Perusahaan Tangguh Nusantara Candi" award because it is considered successful and capable of becoming a pilot in implementing health and interaction protocols to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The Head of Human Resources and Public Facility Unit of PT Semen Gresik, Taufik Susanto, added the principles of Occupational Health and Safety as the company's priority. Therefore, Covid-19 prevention protocols applied within the Semen Gresik area do not only regulate matters related to human aspects or work methods but also to the availability of supporting infrastructure.
Employees' seats and desks are also arranged according to the Covid-19 protocols, with a minimum distance of 1.5 meters with a partition. Additional windows are also built in the workspace to improve air circulation.
All employees of Semen Gresik and its subsidiaries are also required to fill out online health screening, both daily and monthly. The survey is not only for the employees but also for family members at home. This step is crucial because, referring to the fact, the spread of Covid-19 in office clusters, as happening in several big cities, stems from the employees' family members.
"This health screening can monitor the activities of the employees’ and their family members. For instance, during the last 14 days, information such as what activities they do, the people they make close contact with, places they have visited, and others can be monitored. "Employees' health conditions and even the Covid-19 map in the Semen Gresik can be identified from screening results, and if there is a problem, the handling can be done quickly and properly," he added.
Currently, the company also reviews the need for administrative sanctions or other forms of disciplinary actions if the employees are ignorant in following the Covid-19 health protocols. This effort also aims to reinforce the Semen Gresik's commitment as a company to continually supports government measures in preventing the spread of Covid-19.
“We hope that all parties adhere to the Covid-19 protocols with their awareness because it is a part of the adaptation of the new habit," Taufik Susanto concluded.
