Celebrating 3rd Anniversary, Semen Gresik’s Subsidiary SMOR Sees Rp 3.887 Billion Profit
Rembang, July 6, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik’s subsidiary, PT Sinergi Mitra Operasi Rembang (SMOR), celebrated its third anniversary (June 12, 2020—June 12, 2023) in an event, the theme of which was “Better & Sustainable”.
In 2023, PT SMOR successfully produced a positive performance by seeing a profit increase of Rp 3.887 billion. The increase has been in line with the growth of the company’s operations, which has become more improved in different aspects.
“[We are] grateful and thankful for the support from everyone, so that PT SMOR can celebrate its third anniversary. [The company] is young, but no one would expect it to grow and develop greatly in its operations,” said President Director of PT SMOR, Syaichul Amin.
Syaichul added that with great operations, PT SMOR successfully produced better corporate performance in terms of investment values, dividends, and service. Improving the service quality and the competency of human resources strengthened the company’s position in working on Creating Shared Value (CSV) along with the neighboring communities, as well as enhanced added value for PT Semen Gresik.
“The management of PT Semen Gresik encourages us to improve financial performance by expanding [our] reach in managing different existing and potential projects in external markets outside the company so that the presence of PT SMOR can further be improved,” Syaichul concluded.
In a 2022 general shareholder meeting (RUPS) organized at the end of June, the company shared its significant dividends with six village-owned enterprises (BUMDes), which were the shareholders. Syaichul stated that the distribution of dividends was based on the composition of shareholders’ shareholding in the joint venture, comprising 52% owned by Semen Gresik and 48% owned by the six BUMDes collectively.
“The profit received by PT Semen Gresik, however, will be returned 100% to the communities in the form of business programs. This way, it is expected to help improve the communities’ sense of ownership of the company,” Syaichul said.
Syaichul Amin continued that SMOR’s journey in its third year was the momentum to optimize BUMDes’ potential as sociopreneurs or social entrepreneurs that integrated business and the development of society’s economy.
“PT SMOR is a joint venture by PT Semen Gresik and six BUMDes of the villages of Tegaldowo, Kadiwono, Kajar, Pasucen, Timbrangan of Rembang regency, and Ngampel of Blora regency. This joint venture project has become the first BUMN-BUMDes joint venture model in Indonesia,” Syaichul said.
He added that by focusing on empowering society, the company’s operational activities provided many benefits to the communities in the operational areas of the Rembang plant. One of the realizations of the company’s commitments is that 80% of the 500 employees of PT SMOR are residents of the surrounding areas of the company in the Rembang and Blora regencies.
“The company is committed to providing social and economic values so that the communities may receive the benefit of BUMN’s presence [among them]. It is expected that this joint venture can play a strategic role in elevating and improving the welfare of the people living in [our] operational areas, said Syaicul Amin.
The company’s anniversary was celebrated with various activities, such as a volleyball tournament and an art competition, with the main event of the celebration being organized on June 27, 2023, in the village of Tegaldowo, Gunem district, Rembang regency.
