Distributing School Equipment and Introducing the Environment, SG Goes to School is Back
Rembang, June 7, 2022 – As an effort to support the improvement of the educational quality of schools in the Company's operational areas, PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), through its Pilar SG Cerdas, Environmental and Social Responsibility Program, was back holding Goes to School activities in two primary schools (SD) in the Company's operational area.
This second Goes to School Activities were organized at the State Primary School of Timbangan and Tegaldowo, Rembang. On that occasion, PTSG also distributed hundreds of school equipment to improve students' enthusiasm for learning. The equipment consisted of stationery packages and school bags.
PTSG's Senior Manager of Communication and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, declared that the Semen Gresik's Goes to School activity was the Company's commitment to involving the community to grow together to improve the quality of education.
"Hopefully, through this activity, the students can understand the existence and contribution of Semen Gresik to the community. In addition, this activity is also a strategic step for the company to participate in improving the quality of education for the community, especially those around the company's operational areas," said Sunyata in a press release on Monday (6/7).
He further stated that the presented materials in the Goes to School activities covered the Company's profile and the green industry concept that has been implemented. Those materials were presented in a fun and interactive way; thus, they were understandable for primary school children. In its implementation, PTSG invited two students of the Beasiswa Prasejahtera Berprestasi or BEST (scholarship program) beneficiaries by Semen Gresik to participate.
One of the beneficiaries serving as the facilitator of the activity, Siti Nur Aisyah, affirmed that she was highly excited about SG Goes to School activities. According to her, this activity can be a means of sharing dreams and inspiring primary school children in the Company's operational areas.
“The SG Goes to School activity has opened up my eyes to observe firsthand the condition of education around the Company. Many children have potential but lack motivation. Through this activity, I am encouraged to inspire primary school children to dare to dream of continuing their education to the university level,” said Aisyah.
She also expressed her wish that by considering the great benefits for students and facilitators, PTSG is expected to organize this activity on a regular basis.
