Ensuring the Reliability of K3 Implementation, Semen Gresik Holds Emergency Response Simulation Again

Rembang, November 23rd, 2023 PT Semen Gresik held an emergency response simulation again in the Emergency Respond Room (ERR) area of the Rembang Factory, on Friday, November 17th, 2023.

The emergency response simulation which is held every year involves personnel from the Occupational Safety and Health (K3) section, Mine section, Security section, United Tractors Semen Gresik (UTSG), and from the Factory Polyclinic team.

"Emergencies, such as fires, natural disasters, and various other types of work accidents can occur at any time and unexpectedly. Therefore, every company must have good emergency response planning procedures," said PTSG Senior Manager of Communication & CSR Dharma Sunyata.

He added that this activity is to ensure that workers know and understand emergency response procedures (P/SG/SHE/008) and the readiness of equipment and teams in dealing with emergencies. This is a tangible manifestation of the company's commitment and implementation of the K3 management system.

"Exactly at 08.30 WIB, the simulation began with a smoke bomb billowing from the ERR office room caused by a short circuit of the generator set which caused sparks and local fires in the unit. Then the workers coordinated with the security team and the firefighting team," he explained.

During the simulation process of extinguishing and evacuating the unit, one of the personnel due to inhaling too much smoke burned his right hand, causing him to lose consciousness and was evacuated by the medical team.

"The flow of this emergency response simulation is the same as the original situation by the scenario, where each personnel in charge plays a role seriously," he explained.

Dharma hopes that the emergency response simulation will be able to train personnel's preparedness in handling emergencies in any position.

"And to evaluate the readiness of supporting tools and infrastructure in carrying out emergency response. In addition, it also evaluates whether the emergency response procedures that have been listed in the P/SG/SHE/008 procedure document are still effective in handling them," he concluded.
