Semen Gresik Provides Scholarships Worth Rp250 Millions to 25 University Students
Rembang, March 27, 2023 – Twenty-five university students were selected to receive the benefits of the Beasiswa Prasejahtera Berprestasi (BEST) scholarship, as well as to join a boot camp program of training and additional support organized by PT Semen Gresik at Hotel Dafam Fortuna, Malioboro, Yogyakarta (March 17–19, 2023).
The BEST program, which was a part of Pilar SG Cerdas, was aimed at supporting high-achieving students of public universities who came from poorer households in Rembang and Blora Regencies, by providing scholarships worth a total of 250 million rupiahs to 25 selected students.
These students were carefully selected from 136 applicants who were from various well-known public universities in Indonesia.
PT Semen Gresik’s Senior Manager of Communication & CSR, Dharma Sunyata, stated that the BEST scholarship program has been provided every year since 2018, as a display of PT Semen Gresik’s commitment to improving the quality of human resources of the people of the surrounding area. Additionally, PT Semen Gresik wanted to improve the quality of life of the people in the company’s operational area through education, so that they might contribute better towards their families, society, and the country.
“We want to congratulate the students who are chosen to accept the benefits of the 2023 BEST program. We have a big hope that they can use the benefits as best they can, become even more passionate in their studies, and achieve great accomplishments to reach their dreams,” Dharma added.
Dharma continued that PT Semen Gresik organized a boot camp for the 25 students who were granted the BEST program, for additional knowledge and skills.
“The boot camp activity is expected to help the students obtain more support and training to nurture leadership qualities, soft skills, critical thinking, creativity, good communication, and collaboration skills,” Dharma concluded in his press statement on Monday (27/3).
The BEST scholarship was one of various CSR, education-based program series by Semen Gresik, among them being the Goes to School program, Kelas Inspirasi, and Bimbingan Belajar Semen Gresik, which were ongoing at the moment.
Meanwhile, one of the scholarship students, Lola Haliza, expressed her relief at the scholarship program by PT Semen Gresik. “As one of the students who has received the BEST scholarships for two periods, I can tell how beneficial the program is, which is to help me pay my tuition fees and to be a source of my motivation in continuously achieving more accomplishments,” she said.
