Semen Gresik Wins the Best Company in Improving Journalists Quality Across Central Java

Rembang, February 23, 2022 – PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) won a special award from the Indonesian Journalists Association (PWI) of Central Java on the 2022 National Press Day's (HPN) Award at the Central Java level, which was held at Pendapa Tumenggung Bahurekso, Kendal, last week.

Semen Gresik received the award from PWI for its crucial contribution to enhancing the human resource capacity of Central Java journalists by supporting the journalist competency test (UKW) activity.

The award was handed over by PWI Honorary Board Secretary, Sasongko Tedjo, to the Chairperson of the Communication and Legal Department of PTSG, Gatot Mardiana, in the presence of Atal S Depari, as the Chairperson of PWI, and Amir Machmud NS, as the Chairperson of PWI of Central Java.

Mardiana expressed his gratitude for the award given by the PWI of Central Java and appreciated the PR team and all PTSG lines for collaborating to establish a synergy with PWI, particularly their involvement in the journalist competency improvement program.

''We are very grateful. We consider this award a valuable achievement of our positive performance. This is a moment that needs to be highly appreciated to become a shared spirit of strengthening journalist resources continuously," said Mardiana in a press release on Wednesday (23/2).

He added that PTSG and PWI shared the same vision of improving the quality and professionalism of journalist resources through the competency tests. In addition to disseminating information, he continued, journalists should also be encouraged to maintain journalism's dignity as a profession that produces intellectual works.

Therefore, PTSG fully supported the PWI of Central Java in organizing journalist certification as a commitment to encourage the journalists to acquire technical skills and ethical maturity.

"We expected that UKW activities, as knowledge transfer and competence enhancement, will continue with more quality to assist journalists in developing integrity that will benefit and educate the nation," he concluded.

On the other hand, Amir Machmud NS, the Chairperson of the PWI of Central Java, emphasized that his party had given the award to Semen Gresik for their great pioneering and efforts to increase the capacity of journalists through the UKW program.

He admitted that, over the past two years of working together to strengthen human resources, the PWI of Central Java has consistently received Semen Gresik's support with five UKW implementations to optimize the journalists' existence, dignity, and professionalism in performing their tasks.
