SOEs Minister: Joint Venture of Semen Gresik and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) Could Be a Model for Other SOEs

Rembang - PT Semen Gresik was committed to improving the welfare of the community around the Company, both in Rembang and Blora. One effort was made through the establishment of a joint venture between Semen Gresik (SG) and six VOEs.

 

The cooperation agreement to establish the joint venture initiated by the parent company of PT Semen Gresik, PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG), was held at the Rembang Regency Hall on Thursday (9/4/2020). The signing event was attended by the Regent of Rembang Abdul Hafidz and witnessed through video conference by the Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, the Deputy Minister of SOEs Budi Gunadi Sadikin, the Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo, and the Managing Director of SIG Hendi Prio Santoso. In addition, the Assistant Government and Social Welfare Regional Secretariat of Blora Purwadi Setiono also attended the event.

 

The agreement of joint venture establishment was signed by the President Director of Semen Gresik Mukhamad Saifudin, with each President Director of the VOEs, i.e., PT Mitra Tegaldowo Sejahtera located in Tegaldowo Village; PT Indo Kadiwono Sukses (Kadiwono Village); PT Pasucen Berkah Mandiri (Pasucen Village); PT Kajar Ngudi Mulyo (Kajar Village); PT Karya Berkah Berdikari Timbrangan Village, which are located in Rembang Regency; and last PT Ngampel Gading Perkasa is located in Ngampel Village, Blora Regency.

 

The composition of share ownership in the joint venture company named as PT Sinergi Mitra Operasi Rembang (PT SMOR) consisted of 52% of shares owned by Semen Gresik and 48% of shares collectively owned by the VOEs in PT BUMDes.

 

Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir stated that the community development activities with this new model were more sustainable and could become a model for other SOEs. In this way, SOEs could operate with the supports of the community's potential. Besides, the community also benefited from the presence of SOEs to improve their welfare and independence.

  

"This effort is an excellent collaboration model between SOEs and surrounding communities. It is also a win-win solution for creating a healthy business ecosystem, "Erick Thohir said in his speech on Thursday (9/4/2020).

 

The establishment of the joint venture was pioneered by PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) with the Central Java Provincial Government since 2017. It was aimed to optimize economic improvement efforts and community empowerment of the people around the Rembang Plant, which includes rural economic development, education improvement, to development infrastructure.

 

Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo stated that the establishment of the joint venture was in line with the strategic program conducted by his staff to enhance the economic welfare of rural communities. The joint venture scheme was expected to increase not only the sense of community ownership of the Semen Gresik Rembang Plant but also increase the acceleration of the ability of VOEs entrepreneurs around the Company.

"This is part of a community empowerment plan around the Rembang Plant," said Ganjar Pranowo.

 

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of SIG Hendi Prio Santoso explained that the development of VOEs around the Rembang Factory is a form of the Company's commitment to empowering the community's economy through village potentials management.

 

GIS will facilitate training and assistance programs in enhancing each VOEs readiness and competence. This phase is the Company's efforts to assist the community in managing the economic activities in a modern and professional manner.

 

" The operational activities of the Rembang plant can run well so that the production volume continues to increase. It is caused by the supports of the Central Java Provincial Government, Rembang Regency Government, village government, and surrounding communities. And, GIS really appreciates that" he added.
