Strengthening Operational Excellence, Semen Gresik Launches OSH Study Group

Rembang, February 14, 2022 - To deal with the challenges of industrial transformation during the pandemic, PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) is committed to strengthening operational excellence, one of which is encouraging a culture of Occupational Safety and Health or OSH within the company. The latest innovation from PTSG in the field of OSH is the implementation of the OSH Study Group Program or the Kejar K3 program at the Tanah Liat Hall of the Rembang Factory.

According to the Head of Mining and Raw Material Management as well as the head of the Kejar K3 project team, Kuswandi, Kejar K3 is a knowledge-sharing program from each PTSG personnel who has certain expertise and certification in the field of OSH to employees and company partners so that knowledge dissemination and more extensive information about OSH are achieved within the company.

The aim of this program, he said, is to provide knowledge, skills and cultivate a consistently sustainable OSH culture in the company environment. ''The pursuit of OSH will last for a year and involve organic employees and partners. This is a proof that the company is concerned about improving the performance of employees so that their safety and health are guaranteed,'' said Kuswandi in a press release on Friday (11/2).

Kuswandi continued, the launching of the Kejar K3 with the implementation of the health program was attended by 30 participants from employee representatives and the management of Echelon 1 of PTSG. Kuswandi continued that, in the first class, the participants received Module 1 with a material about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Module 2 on First Aid in Accidents (P3K). The instructors in this module were OSH experts and the company’s doctors.

Overall, Kuswandi said, there are seven modules in the Kejar K3 program. In addition to Modules 1 and 2, there were Module 3 on lockout tagout (LOTO), Module 4 (OSH in Mining), Module 5 (Firefighting), Module 6 (High Working), and Module 7 (Working Permit). ''This program certainly adjusts the main duties of each employee. However, the PPE and first aid modules are targeted at all work units. If employees have OSH certificates, it will strengthen the implementation at the operational level,'' he said.

PTSG Rembang Factory, he stressed, had shown a good commitment in the management of OSH as the implementation of Government Regulation No. 50 of 2012 concerning the OHS Management System. PTSG had also won the Bendera Emas Award from the Indonesian Ministry of Manpower for achieving an optimal OHS management system, which is on a scale of 85-100 percent.
