Commemorating National K3 Day, Hundreds of Semen Gresik Employees Jointly Participate in Blood Donation for Public
Rembang, March 1, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), in cooperation with Palang Merah Indonesia (PMI, Indonesian Red Cross) of its regency-level office in Rembang, and OASE, a social community managed by PTSG employees, organized a blood donation event to commemorate the National K3 (Occupational Health and Safety) Month.
Hundreds of employees of PTSG and its affiliated companies donated blood at the event, which was held in PTSG’s Rembang Plant Site on Tuesday (28/2).
PTSG’S Senior Manager of Communication & CSR, Dharma Sunyata, stated that the blood donation event was held to commemorate the 2023 National Occupational Health and Safety (K3) Month. It was also a tangible form of contribution by the company to PMI’s blood transfusion unit, as well as a form of altruism.
“This is our part in humanitarian action and a real contribution to the public. According to the data of PMI office of Rembang Regency, since 2022 PTSG has provided blood donation of 575 bags,” Dharma explained in his press statement on Tuesday (1/3).
Dharma further added that the blood donation program was first initiated by Komunitas OASE, a community managed by Semen Gresik’s employees and devoted to humanitarian and social causes. The community, which had been established by the end of 2019, regularly organized a blood donation program every three months.
“We are very thankful that this great activity has successfully motivated the employees to donate blood. OASE proactively organizes blood donation programs, and it is driven by the situation of Rembang as a regency with a low level of blood bag availability compared with other regencies,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, the Head of PTSG’s K3 Day Committee, Alfi Fadlhi, stated that PTSG regularly organized a blood donation program every three months. He suggested that donating blood was beneficial to health, helpful in saving more lives, and useful to maintain the availability of blood stocks in PMI Rembang and the surrounding area.
“The series of activities in PTSG during the National K3 Months starts with a ceremony to commemorate K3 Day, followed by a safety challenge, safety-themed fun games, a health walk and a mass planting event, a blood donation event, and several other contests,” he concluded.
