Get Acquainted with Modern Eco-Friendly Equipment Long Belt Conveyor at Semen Gresik's Rembang Plant
- Use regenerative power technology equivalent to energy for 100 homes
Rembang, February 20th, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik optimizes energy consumption savings to be more environmentally friendly with the latest generation of cutting-edge technology with international standards with the use of Long Belt Conveyors in the Rembang Factory mining area, Central Java.
Senior Manager of Communication & CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Dharma Sunyata, explained that since its operation in 2017 Semen Gresik has utilized the Long Belt Conveyor material transportation tool to transport limestone material from the mine to the factory production area. This can save diesel fuel oil (BBM) energy used by dump trucks.
"Long Belt Conveyor stretches along 2.4 km as a material transportation tool made of rubber, the way it works the belt is pulled using a rotating drum so that the belt moves continuously from upstream to downstream," he explained.
He continued, Long Belt Conveyor has regenerative power technology that can generate its own electricity of 90 kVA (kiloVolt-Ampere) or the equivalent of electrical energy for 100 houses.
"This can happen because the Long Belt Conveyor line has the same downhill contours as F1 technology which uses the KERS (kinetic energy recovery system) system which utilizes braking technology to be converted into other energy, in this case into electricity," he said.
With Long Belt Conveyor technology, Dharma added, the process of transporting raw materials for cement production becomes more efficient and energy efficient. This is also clear evidence that Semen Gresik continues to be consistent in its commitment as an environmentally friendly company.
"Various strategic initiatives and innovations in contributing to environmental protection, including the fossil fuel conversion program to environmentally friendly energy sources, have led PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory to many achievements, such as the Good Mining Practice award and the Tamasya (Mining for Community Welfare) Award from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), as well as the Green PROPER award from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry," he concluded.
