Overcoming the Extreme Drought Disaster, UPZ Baznas Semen Gresik and BPBD distributed 500 thousand Liters of Clean Water to Villages in 12 Districts throughout Rembang Regency
Rembang, November 9th, 2023 – PT Semen Gresik through the Zakat Collection Unit (UPZ) in synergy with the Rembang Regency Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) distributed a total of 500 thousand liters of clean water to several areas affected by extreme drought in Rembang Regency.
Chairman of UPZ Baznas PT Semen Gresik, Nurhadi, said that this activity is the distribution of zakat from employees for the humanitarian field in the form of clean water assistance to residents affected by drought in the Rembang district area.
"The process of distributing clean water is spread across 12 sub-districts of Rembang district, which is distributed using tank trucks from BPBD Rembang to various areas affected by extreme drought," he explained.
He ensured that by collaborating with BPBD Rembang to map out which areas or villages needed clean water assistance to be right on target.
"Hopefully, the existence of UPZ Baznas PT Semen Gresik can ease the burden on residents in obtaining clean water supply and is truly useful and targeted for residents in need according to 8 asnaf zakat recipients," Nurhadi explained in his press statement (7/11).
Nurhadi revealed that the distribution of 500 thousand liters of clean water assistance by UPZ Baznas PT Semen Gresik is a real commitment of the company which is included in the social and environmental responsibility program (TJSL) Semen Gresik Social pillar.
Meanwhile, the Head of Ketangi Hamlet, Pamotan Subdistrict, Nurmalika, expressed her gratitude for the clean water assistance from UPZ Baznas PT Semen Gresik and BPBD Rembang in her area.
"With this clean water assistance, hopefully, it can be useful for the needs of residents in our village, so that they can survive in this extreme drought season," he concluded.
