President Director of PT Semen Gresik and SGSP Farmers Hold a Harvest of longan and durian fruit in the Horticultural Garden of Rembang Factory

Rembang, December 3rd, 2024 – PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory, a subsidiary of PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (SIG) held a bumper harvest of longan and durian fruit in the Rembang Factory Horticulture Garden area.

The harvest was directly participated by the President Director of PT Semen Gresik, Muchamad Supriyadi, Operation Director of PT Semen Gresik, Benny Ismanto, Finance & HR Director of PT Semen Gresik, Fardhi Sjahrul Ade, and employees as well as farmer members of Semen Gresik Sahabat Petani (SGSP).

Senior Manager of Communication and CSR of PT Semen Gresik, Sulistyono revealed that this harvest activity is part of the company's efforts to improve the quality of life, welfare, and social economy of farmers in the community area around the company as well as the application of the green industry concept.

“The harvested fruits are still fresh and good, so they can be consumed and utilized by local farmers to earn rupiah. In addition to longan and durian fruit, the 4-hectare horticultural garden is also planted with crystal guava fruit trees, as well as jumbo sugar apple,” Sulistyono explained.

“Horticulture cultivation can provide significant economic value for farmers. It is recorded that fruit sales can reach a total transaction of tens of millions of rupiah so that the harvest can be enjoyed and utilized by hundreds of farmers as clear evidence that even factory area land can be productive,” he explained.

Sulistyono added that the horticultural garden is located on the Borrowed Use Permit for Forest Areas (IPPKH) operational area of PT Semen Gresik Rembang Factory.

“This environmental pillar CSR program is able to provide knowledge transfer and penetration of agricultural technology, the company emphasizes to coexist and grow with the community by providing the best benefits and contributions,” he said.

Meanwhile, one of the SGSP farmer members as well as the manager of the horticulture garden, Sukardi, admitted that so far, the horticulture garden has used the most modern agricultural techniques.

“Areas that were previously difficult to plant fruit, can now grow and bear various trees ranging from longan, crystal guava, jumbo sugar apple, and even durian fruit,” he concluded.
