Rembang, April 26, 2022 - PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), through one of its Pilar SG (Environmental and Social Responsibility) programs, in this case, the SG Cerdas program, held "Goes to School" events in several primary schools (SD) around the Company's operational area.
Besides introducing the Company's profile, these educational events also aimed to support and improve the education quality in those schools by procuring school equipment to increase students' learning enthusiasm.
According to PTSG's Senior Manager of Communication and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, the "Goes to School" events were held to affirm the Company's commitment to increasing community participation to grow and develop together.
"Through the educational and dissemination events in those schools, we expect that the students can understand why PTSG appears in the community. These events are a follow-up to the direction of the Ministry of SOEs, which requires companies to prioritize the quality improvement of education for the community around the Company's operational areas," Sunyata said in a press release on Tuesday (4/26).
He further said that these events were held quarterly in four schools selected based on the mapping conducted by the Community Development Officer team. Approximately 500 to 600 students were involved in these "Goes to School" events.
Considering that they targetted elementary school students, according to him, the educational and motivational activities were conducted interactively, casually, and cheerfully. The CSR team also concisely and comprehensibly explained the Company's profile and the green industry concept they used to the students.
He further said that the PTSG team was also accompanied by the representatives of the Beasiswa Prasejahtera Berprestasi or BEST (scholarship program) beneficiaries, consisting of college students who had been selected to study at their favored state universities in Indonesia. Their appearance was expected to inspire those primary school students to dream big and pursue those dreams.
In these "Goes to School" events, Sunyata added, PTSG distributed hundreds of school bags and stationery essentials to the students.
"We hope that the fun and joyful educational activities and the gifts we provide can be beneficial for those primary school students. They dream big and have a strong determination to make it come true,''.
