Strengthening the Bond, Semen Gresik 'Nyawiji' and Shares with Sedulur Sikep Samin
Rembang, January 21, 2022- PT Semen Gresik (PTSG) of Rembang Factory made a visit and provided various kinds of social assistance to the indigenous peoples of Samin or Sedulur Sikep Samin in Karangpace Hamlet, Klopoduwur Village, Banjarejo District, Blora Regency, on Wednesday (19/1).
This event under the theme of 'Nyawiji dan Sambung Rasa’ was held at the local meeting hall and attended by the elder of Sedulur Sikep Samin, Lasiyo. PTSG management who participated in this event wore local traditional clothing.
PTSG's Director of Finance and Human Resources, Muchamad Supriyadi, explained that the event aimed to strengthen the company's bond with various key stakeholders, including the indigenous peoples around the company. In addition, the company employed the principle of stakeholder engagement in business operations as its commitment.
Supriyadi stated that Semen Gresik welcomed and accepted the presence of Sedulur Sikep Samin regardless of their beliefs. Sedulur Sikep Samin's teachings about the importance of preserving nature are in line with Semen Gresik's development, which prioritizes environmental sustainability and green industry.
''Since the factory was established, we have collaborated with Sedulur Sikep Samin to carry out a positive and beneficial activity, including preserving nature, social, and culture. Protecting the earth is our obligation," said Supriyadi in a press release on Friday (21/1).
Strengthening the bond with Sedulur Sikep Samin involved the activities of delivering two quintals of corn seeds and dozens of staple food packages for local residents and constructing a new gate in Sedulur Sikep Samin's village. The construction of this gate will later serve as the identity of the indigenous peoples.
"This social service with the enthusiasm of sharing also becomes a celebration of the 8th anniversary of PT Semen Gresik. Hopefully, our concern will provide economic and social value for Sedulur Sikep Samin," he added.
On the other hand, the tribal chief, Lasiyo, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to PTSG for maintaining friendly relations, caring, and empathizing with the community of Sedulur Sikep Samin in the remote area of Blora. He considered all employees of Semen Gresik as part of his family.
"Thank you. I wish you good health and success in work," he wished.
He explained that the local wisdom of Sedulur Sikep Samin highly appreciates and respects fellow human beings and is committed to protecting nature. It promotes Semen Gresik's sustainable vision through environmental care activities.
Lasiyo also emphasized that his people will always support the continuity of the cement factory's operation in Rembang Regency, located on the border of Blora Regency.
