Semen Gresik Gifts Sacrificial Animals Worth Rp 380 Million to Communities of Rembang and Blora for Idul Adha 1444 H
Rembang, June 28, 2023 – To celebrate Idul Adha 1444 H, PT Semen Gresik again distributed qurban (sacrificial) animals worth a total of Rp 380 million, which were comprised of 11 cows and 18 goats, to local communities in Rembang and Blora on Wednesday, Jun. 28.
The qurban animals were distributed through 15 representatives of local communities, which were local pondok pesantren (Islamic boarding schools), religious organizations, officials of Masjid Agung Rembang, and village-level local governments of regions near PT Semen Gresik’s Rembang plant.
PT Semen Gresik’s Senior Manager of Communication and CSR, Dharma Sunyata, said that the distribution of the qurban animals for Idul Adha 1444 H was also a reflection of the company’s commitment to the spirit of sharing, growing, and improving alongside the people of the communities.
“With this distribution, the company hopes to be able to bring benefits to thousands of people in need, particularly those living in the regencies of Rembang and Blora,” Dharma said in his press statement on Jun. 28.
Dharma further added that suppliers of the qurban animal were from Sahabat Ternak Semen Gresik, an assistance program supporting six villages near PT Semen Gresik’s operational areas to manage farm activities, starting from animal breeding up to livestock marketing.
This directly impacted the communities’ empowerment and improved their economies. “Thorough physical examinations have been conducted on the distributed livestock, and the animals are healthy and fit to slaughter,” Dharma said.
The distribution of the qurban animals was the company’s concrete implementation of the Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program. It was intended to promote the fulfillment of basic rights in a fair, equal manner to further achieve welfare for all parts of society.
“The distribution of qurban animals by PT Semen Gresik has been conducted annually since the beginning of the Rembang plant’s operations in 2017. Until 2023, a total of 328 qurban animals, which are comprised of 90 cows and 238 goats, have been distributed to communities receiving the benefits in the regencies of Rembang and Blora,” he concluded his statement.
