Keeping the Commitment of Sustainable Nature, Semen Gresik Holds Sinau Olah Roso with Sedulur Sikep
Rembang, February 26, 2021- Semen Gresik showed its position as a cement company committing to preserving culture. Together with Sedulur Sikep Samin, Semen Gresik held an event entitled "Sinau Olah Roso Nyawiji ing Paseduluran" which became a momentum for gathering and learning to preserve nature, society, and culture, on Thursday (25/02) located in Klopoduwur, Blora, Central Java. This annual activity was led by the local community leader of Samin Klopoduwur Village, Lasio, and attended by the Sedulur Sikep Samin association members from several villages by implementing strict health protocols.
The Head of Communications and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, said that this year's workshop carried out a different concept from the previous year, namely integrating the Sustainable Concept that has always been promoted by Semen Gresik with the teachings of Sedulur Sikep Samin, which is close to nature and the preservation of the earth.
“This annual activity is in line with Semen Gresik's role in socio-cultural preservation, which refers to the core value of Community Involvement and Development. SG expects that there will be a stronger harmony and sense between SG and Sedulur Sikep Samin to always maintain sustainable nature and culture," Dharma Sunyata said in a press release, Friday (26/02).
Dharma Sunyata continued that Sedulur Sikep's teachings about the importance of protecting nature were strongly in line with the SG Lestari pillar program. Semen Gresik, in this environmental program, created innovations, utilized the latest eco-friendly technology, and contributed to the use of renewable alternative energy to preserve nature.
As proof of its consistency in protecting the environment in a sustainable manner, SG received the Blue Proper Awards on Company Performance in Environmental Management from the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia for the second time in 2020. SG also received the Green Industry Award and the inauguration of eco-friendly products (green label) on the company's products. This indicated Semen Gresik's adherence to the applicable laws and regulations as well as operational excellence.
The local community leader of Samin Klopoduwur, Lasio, said that it was important to have thoughts on protecting the earth and the environment.
“We should know how to cultivate the feelings to care for the earth and maintain brotherhood. All of us, including our nature, are family, and family should not be hostile to each other," Lasio said.
In addition to establishing a joint dialogue, this activity also presented the history and culture of the Samin Tribe to preserve culture as an effort to preserve the ancestral heritage of the Samin Tribe.
The local wisdom of Sedulur Sikep Samin as an intangible cultural heritage of Indonesia has been established by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Sedulur Sikep Samin has strong local wisdom in respecting one another and is committed to protecting nature.
