Semen Gresik Provides Assistance for the Residents Affected by the Coastal Flood in Semarang City and Demak Regency
Rembang, June 3, 2022 - PT Semen Gresik (PTSG), through the Quick Response Team (QRT) of the Disaster Response Task Force, distributed the humanitarian assistance in the form of staple food packages to the residents affected by the coastal flood in Semarang City and Demak Regency.
The Disaster Response Task Force handed over the distribution task to the Regional Agency for Disaster Management (BPBD) of Central Java. The task force also visited the public emergency kitchen in Sriwulan Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency, whose area was mostly affected by the coastal flood, to distribute the assistance to the residents.
PTSG's Senior Manager of Communication and CSR Unit, Dharma Sunyata, explained that the assistance represented Semen Gresik's concern for the victims and their disaster response to the settlement flooded by the seawater. In addition, it proved the Company’s real commitment to supporting disaster management and recovery.
Sunyata further explained that the Company cooperated with the BPBD of Central Java to distribute the assistance to the affected residents in Semarang City and Demak Regency.
"We sympathized with the victims of the coastal flood. I hope that this assistance can relieve their psychological burden and meet their food needs. We expect that they can do their activity again like they used to and this hardship will pass soon," said Sunyata in the press release, Wednesday (1/6).
He claimed that PTSG and the Disaster Response Task Force of SOEs, as the SOEs disaster coordinators in Central Java, would be continuously ready and available to perform humanitarian actions in any emergency in Indonesia.
According to Sunyata, the coastal flood striking the partial areas of Semarang City and Demak Regency caused concern to the Disaster Response Task Force and urged them to provide humanitarian assistance.
As is known, the flood with a height of up to 1.1 meters caused a wide impact, not only on the settlements but also on the residents who had to evacuate and suspend their activities for a certain period.
In 2021, Sunyata added, Semen Gresik also provided humanitarian assistance and Personal Protective Equipment to the flood victims in Sidorejo Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency. Earlier this year, the Company had distributed emergency response assistance for the flood victims in three subdistricts of Rembang Regency.
