Semen Gresik Renovates 12 Houses of Underprivileged Residents in Rembang and Blora Regencies
Rembang, August 21, 2020 – Once again, PT Semen Gresik carries out a house renovations program for 12 houses of underprivileged residents in Rembang and Blora Regencies. In addition to reducing poverty and improving the quality of life, the development of uninhabitable houses (RTLH) is also aimed at labor-intensive programs following the Covid-19 pandemic.
The RTLH development program of PT Semen Gresik is held from August 1 to September 15, 2020. The budget for each house reaches IDR 50 million. In total, the total budget allocated to the RTLH program for 12 houses reaches IDR 600 million.
For Rembang regency, the RTLH program is carried out in the villages of Tegaldowo, Timbrangan, Pasucen, and Kajar in the Gunem Sub-district, as well as Kadiwono Village in the Bulu Sub-district. Meanwhile, in Blora Regency, the program is implemented in Ngampel Village, Blora Subdistrict.
The Head of the Communication and Community Development Unit of PT Semen Gresik, Dharma Sunyata, claims that the RTLH development program has been implemented since 2016. If it is calculated since the first implementation until now, Semen Gresik has allocated a budget of IDR 4 billion to build 80 houses for underprivileged residents so that their houses are inhabitable.
"During the survey process to the verification of program recipients, Semen Gresik always involves the village government to the District Government of Rembang and Blora. This effort is made so that the RTLH program targets the right beneficiaries and contributes positively to reducing poverty and improving the quality of life of the community," said Dharma Sunyata, after the RTLH program assistance is completed at Mbah Dasiran's house on RT 02 RW 06 Dukuh Tambakselo, Ngampel Village, Blora, on Friday. (21/8/2020).
Semen Gresik continues to innovate in the RTLH program which is part of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The concept used by Semen Gresik is to maintain local wisdom and existing resources in the program beneficiary villages. It is conducted by empowering village self-reliance and involving the local community. The planning, implementation, and monitoring processes involve the active role of the village and the community.
This year, the RTLH development program is also directed towards a labor-intensive program. Villagers affected by Covid-19 contribute to building houses, so they also receive income to support their family's economy.
"Semen Gresik is committed to keeping its positive contribution in various aspects of community life both in Rembang and Blora Regencies. Companies and communities must grow in a mutually supportive path of growth,” Dharma Sunyata explained.
Meanwhile, Mbah Dasiran, one of the beneficiaries, appreciates the efforts made by Semen Gresik. The assistance from this leading cement company is extremely meaningful. If he only relies on his income from odd jobs in the village, it is hard for him to build his poor wooden house.
"Thank you very much, Semen Gresik. I can live a happy life," he said.
