Semen Gresik - Sedulur Sikep Commitment to Strengthening Local Wisdom and Nature Conservation
Rembang - PT Semen Gresik and Sedulur Sikep agreed in an effort to strengthen cultural values and local wisdom as well as to preserve nature and environment. This strengthening effort was crucial to protect the legacy of noble values for future generations.
The commitment was the result of a talkshow entitled "Sarasehan Sikep Kumpule Balung Pisah Nguri-Nguri Budoyo with PT Semen Gresik" which was held at the Great Hall of Sedulur Sikep Dukuh Karangpace, Klopoduwur Village, Banjarejo District, Blora Regency.
Head of the Public Relations and Community Development Unit of PT Semen Gresik Syaichul Amin said that the good relationship between this leading cement company and Sedulur Sikep had been going on for a long time, even before the Rembang plant operated. A good relationship was established because they have similar fundamental values as their basis.
"Our gathering and communication are not only held for this time, for instance, when we held Wayang Kulit show to enliven the 6th anniversary of PT Semen Gresik. We also communicate with each other, even Mbah Lasiyo and other Sedulur Sikep elders participate in the event. It happens because we have the same commitment to preserving local culture and wisdom, including the matter of nature conservation, "said Syaichul Amin, Wednesday (3/4/2020).
To note, the Ministry of Education and Culture had established Sedulur Sikep local wisdom as Indonesia's intangible cultural heritage. This local wisdom adds to the wealth of cultural treasures in the country. Some of the local wisdom in Sedulur Sikep include appreciating and respecting fellow human beings to the commitment for nature preservation.
According to Syaichul Amin, Sedulur Sikep thought regarding the importance of nature preservation is in line with the industrial development concept, which is in harmony with environmental preservation and sustainability as Semen Gresik basis. And, the commitment has been implemented by Semen Gresik for years.
One of the manifestations is post-mining reclamation activities implemented in Tuban. The former Tuban 1 mining area had become a forest with a variety of biodiversity even greener than before being mined. The former mining location transformed to be " Arboretum Bukit Daun of Forest Collection and Conservation " which became a new destination for residents of Tuban and its surroundings.
"We want to invite Sedulur Sikep to see Arboretum Bukit Daun area directly in Tuban. We will also develop Arboretum Bukit Daun of Forest Collection and Conservation in Rembang even with a greater concept. Tuban is a representation of Rembang future," said Syaichul Amin.
Meanwhile, the elders of Sedulur Sikep Banjarejo Blora, Mbah Lasiyo, said that nature could indeed be cultivated, as long as it is not damaged. And according to him, up to now, Semen Gresik had proven that the nature management carried out was not damaging even provided new benefits to nature and the surrounding environment.
"Nature has provided us with many benefits, so it must be preserved. Semen Grseik has proven to preserve nature through the efforts of reclamation and reforestation," said Mbah Lasiyo accompanied by other Sedulur Sikep members.
